Conference Presentation

The Making of a Medium

Karen learned through Jungian and Transpersonal Psychology that psychological problems can be understood when the person discovers his or her soul purpose in life. For this presentation, Karen wrote, “A woman called my office one day. She said she was a single mom, came from an alcoholic home, was having parenting problems and was also seeing spirits under her bed in the middle of the night. Some of these spirits were not friendly. She said she knew I would understand because her positive spirits had told her that if I became her therapist I was going to be instrumental in developing this aspect of her life.”

It’s important as a therapist not to diagnose this woman with a mental illness due to ignorance. Mediumship is a natural ability inherent in the human condition; it has many stages of development. A medium has psychic abilities and blends two energy fields for the purpose of speaking to the dead. It is important to help a beginning medium be able to distinguish the quality of spirits who are appearing and to be able to get rid of any negative entities that come to them.
