Self-guided Afterlife Connections, and a Group Afterlife Communication

About Craig

R. Craig Hogan, Ph.D., is director of the Center for Spiritual Understanding, devoted to helping people develop their spiritual understanding through afterlife connections. He is the author of Your Eternal Self, presenting the scientific evidence that the mind is not confined to the brain, the afterlife is a reality, people's minds are linked, and the mind affects the physical world. The book has been called “an eye-opening look at the pseudo natural and everything related to the human mind—highly recommended for anyone into the science beyond the mundane world” (“Reviewer's Choice,” Midwest Book Review, June 2008).

Craig co-authored Induced After-Death Communication: A New Therapy for Healing Grief and Trauma with Allan Botkin, Psy.D. and Guided Afterlife Connections: They Come to Change Lives with Rochelle Wright.

He is on the boards of the Academy of Spiritual and Paranormal Studies, Association for Evaluation and Communication of Evidence for Survival, and the American Society for Standards in Mediumship and Psychical Investigation.

Craig has been a writing trainer for 38 years. He co-authored the Personal Styles Inventory, based on Carl Jung's work, Explicit Business Writing, Technical Writing for Crime Laboratory Directors, and Consultant Supervision. He has been a professor of business communications at three universities, curriculum and training administrator at two universities and a medical school, and director of his own online business writing school.

Self-guided Afterlife Connections

Craig developed the Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure for the Center for Spiritual Understanding. It teaches people how to guide themselves into a connection with loved ones on the next plane of life. It is freely available on the Internet at http://selfguided.spiritualunderstanding.org.

The Self-guided Afterlife Connections procedure uses relaxation activities with narrations presented in seven training stages. At each stage, the participants learn to become more adept at allowing the natural unfoldment from their subconscious from which they will receive messages from loved ones living on the next plane of life. The training results in the participants' becoming open to the messages coming from loved ones in spirit, culminating in their being able to sit quietly anywhere, without prompts or meditation music, and connect with loved ones now living in the afterlife.

In a study of 22 participants who had gone through at least the first four stages in training, 86% of participants had an afterlife connection. The procedure is now available without charge for anyone who would like to use it.

Example Self-guided Afterlife Connection

After each stage in the Self-guided Afterlife Connection training procedure, participants fill out a journal describing their experience. They have given us permission to publish the journals. This is one example of a journal entry.

I met my twin brother Kevin tonight; although I've had vague images of him in the past and have always felt him close by, I've never seen him up close like I did tonight. He has longer reddish brown hair that is parted in the center and reaches his chin in various similar lengths. He has a short beard and moustache. He looks like my Dad, but he also looks like me. His eyes are blue like my Dad's, and yet although I took my mother's darker looks and eyes, we have similar features. He is taller than me; he is about six foot one, and he leans over a little. We hugged each other. He's tall and reedy as a man, similar to my father. He was wearing a blue cotton shirt with a white t-shirt underneath and a pair of blue jeans. We met at the picnic table on Deer Island. He looks about mid-20's. He sees me as I am now, in my mid 50's and yet I don't feel that age meeting him; I feel as if we are on par.

I told him it was so good to see him. We sat on the top of the picnic table, him to my left and we held hands, my left hand holding his right hand. I told him that I've missed him all my life, even though I've felt his presence often. He told me that he's always with me. I asked him about when we could be together again, when it would happen. He told me that it would happen, but that he could not elaborate 'why'. He told me that there is knowledge in Spirit that, if I knew it now in my mortal form, it would 'blow my mind'; that there are things that those in spirit simply cannot reveal to those of us in mortal form while we are here, but that 'it will all make sense' when we cross over.

I am left with an impression that just this first meeting is all I can have tonight and I come out of the meeting with deep emotion; the image fades immediately. I feel tears on my cheeks to have actually held my brother's hand and to have hugged him. I miss him so much. I haven't seen him since I was one day old; he is my twin, my other half. But he passed away that first day of our birth.
